Lorene Maher and Carol Bowen are two outstanding women who have served in nearly every office of the past Illinois Rural Letter Carriers’ Auxiliary assisting spouses and their children in order to support the Association in every way possible. Both have served as National Officers, Lorene through the ranks to President and Carol as Secretary. As the Auxiliary and Juniors closed its doors as an official organization in 2009, this scholarship was set up by the Association to honor all that these two women had accomplished on behalf of rural carrier families across the great state of Illinois and this nation and in gratitude for the many dedicated years of service by spouses and children or our families. Mrs. Maher and Mrs. Bowen will draw the names at a lottery drawing at the state convention banquet until they are no longer able to attend, at which time a spouse of a rural carrier will be asked to do this honor for them.

Thank you again for your interest and good luck for the future!
